This is the first version of Windows, released 10 years ago. Here is an exploration of it.
This is the bootscreen. It says 1986 as this is a later version and not the "gold" releae.
In Windows 1.0, the shell is MS-DOS Executive, and not the Taskbar seen in Windows 95. It acts like a file manager.
This version does not support floating windows. Instead you tile them. In the right top corner of each window you can resize the window in question.
The included applications are:
A calculator.
A clock.
A cardfile.
A calender.
A clipboard. It's so powerful that you can even copy and paste ANYTHING!
The control panel.
A notepad. It has a very small size buffer, so long-winded scripts will be hard to write.
It even tells you how much space you have left in the about box! Continuing with the applications, we also have:
Microsoft Paint. This version only support grayscale graphics.
Reversi!
And a 'better' version of Notepad, Write.
Shutting down...
